"Captured" Synopsis:

Peter Wilkinson, a retired man in his early sixties, makes a home movie of his wife Helen, in order to save what's left before he loses her to dementia. His daughter Katie comes back home for Helen's 63rd birthday, unaware of the circumstances at the house, such as her memory loss and his father's struggle to communicate with his wife.

Peter claims to have it all under control, surveilling her with his camera and cutting away the bad moments, editing Helen's life the way he would have liked it to continue. Katie, who's always working, pretends that none of what happens now in the house is her problem, until it comes crashing down in front of her.

Katie defies Peter by telling him he should stop doing what he thinks is useful, but Peter fights back arguing that she has no right to tell him what to do, because she's been absent during the worst moments of their crumbling relationship.

He decides to show her the footage he's been shooting, in order to reveal to her what's been going on and to convince her that what he's doing is good. However, he's really trying to convince her to stay with them, in order to reunite the family.

Ultimately, Peter realizes that the only way to keep his family together is by accepting the fact that he can't fossilize the life around him and that he has to let go, setting himself free from the obsession of control.
